Fourteen stations. Fourteen churches.
In observance of the Holy Week, I, together with my siblings and friend Gelwin, joined the 45th Penitential Walking (The Way of the Cross) organized by MISSION DE COLORES.
Penitiential walking or commonly known as Visita Iglesia (Spanish for Church Visit or visit to churches) is an annual practice held every Maundy Thursday where penitential walkers visit 14 churches for each of the 14 stations of the Cross.
Here are the 14 churches we visited today and I am thankful to God that we were able to make it despite the scorching heat of the sun and foot pain we’ve experienced.
It has been a tradition for many Filipinos to do Visita Iglesia but more than being a practice or custom, penitential walking reflects every person’s gratitude to God and faith in Him.
Have a blessed and meaningful Holy Week!
